Registration and Payment

How to Register

Registration for Fall 2011 classes will be available starting September 6, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday.  Please note, registration will not be accepted over the phone. All students will need to complete a registration form. Forms are available online (below) or at the Conservatory Office.

  1. Complete the Conservatory Registration Form or the Dance Pre-Registration Form or through the Conservatory Office.
  2. Submit registration form by one of the following methods:                                                     
  • By Mail - Mail-in registrations will be accepted until the first day of classes.  Please ensure that payment is enclosed in the form of a cheque, money order (payable to Medicine Hat College) or by VISA/Mastercard.  Credit card post-payments require a payment authorization form
  • By Fax - Registration forms along with VISA/MasterCard payment arrangements may be faxed to The Conservatory office at 403.504.3554 prior to the first day of classes. Post-payments require payment authorization form.
  • In-Person - At the Cultural Centre or Student Services at the main campus for processing and payment arrangements. 
  • Waitlists - If space is not available your name will be placed on a waitlist.  If space becomes available, you will be notified by an instructor.
  • Auditions - Some programs or courses may require students to audition and/or write a placement test.  Further information is available from the Conservatory Office.
  • Admission - The instructor or designate must sign a student registration form authorizing that student to register.  The Conservatory of Music and Dance reserves the right to accept or refuse registration of any student.

Continuing Students
Renewal of registration is the responsibility of the student. Renewal of acceptance is at the discretion of individual instructors.

New Students
At any time, a student/parent may contact the Conservatory office 403.529.3880 or a teacher to arrange for lessons.  Every effort will be made to place the student with a teacher. 

 

Payments & Refunds

Payment Options

Registration fees must be paid in advance and may be made in one lump sum or with post-dated credit card payments.Lump sum payments or 1st post-payment due at time of registration.

  • If a family's total fees are between $200-800, 4 pay; $800+, 8 pay, credit card post-payments are:  Date of registration and the 15th of October, November, and December.
  • If a family's total fees exceed $800, credit card post-payments are:  Date of registration and the 15th of months October to April.

Please Note:  Every effort will be made to post payments to accounts on the 15th of each month although may not be received by your credit card on that date.  If the 15th is on a Saturday or Sunday, payment will be processed on Friday.  Any payments that have not been transacted will be reconciled at conservatory year end.  Delinquent accounts may be refused post payment rights in following years.  Academy students must pay their fees according to the above schedule.  Scholarships will be presented in two instalments.

Refunds

To receive a refund, the student's instructor must be notified and a drop form must be completed and submitted to the Conservatory Office.  Refunds are the responsibility of the student/parent/guardian.

  • Drop forms are available at the Conservatory Office or click here.
  • There are no refunds for missed lessons.
  • Refunds will be determined as follows:
    • Withdrawal before the end of September will receive 100% refund on remaining lessons
    • Withdrawal prior to the Christmas Break will receive 50% refund on remaining lessons
    • Withdrawals after the Christmas Break will not receive a refund.

    Refunds are based on the date that the Add/Drop forms are received and dated by the Conservatory Office.  It is the responsibility of the student/parent/guardian to complete these forms and submit them to the Office.
