Employee RecordsHuman Resources has an employment file on each employee of the college. The personnel file of an individual is the legal file for employment purposes and is the property of Medicine Hat College.
Access to an employee's personnel file is restricted to the employee and his/her supervisor(s), as well as the HR staff who maintain the file.
If you want to view your personnel file, please phone one of the HR staff to set up a date and time.

Management Job descriptions are developed and maintained in Human Resources for all management employees.
Alberta Union of Provincial Employees Job description are developed, evaluated through the Job Evaluation Committee and maintained in Human Resources.
Faculty Position responsibilities are outlined in the agreement between the Medicine Hat College Board of Governors and Medicine Hat College Faculty Association.
Management Human Resources notify supervisors to assess an employee’s performance during the probationary period of employment. Thereafter, appraisals are conducted in accordance with college policy.
Alberta Union of Provincial Employees Human Resources notify supervisors to assess an employee’s performance during the probationary period of employment. Thereafter, appraisals are conducted in accordance with college policy.
Faculty Appraisals or evaluations are performed according to the agreement between the Medicine Hat College Board of Governors and the Medicine Hat College Faculty Association.
FacultyAll new regular full-time faculty complete a two (2) year probationary period. During this time Instructors will be evaluated four times, once per semester. Please refer to the Faculty Association Collective Agreement, Article 4, for further information.
ManagementAll new Management employees complete a twelve (12) month probationary period. During this time evaluation of performance is assessed at the mid and end points.
AUPE All new AUPE employees complete a six (6) month probationary period, except for those at Pay Levels 7 and higher, in which instances the probationary period will be twelve (12) months. Please refer to the AUPE Agreement, Article 8, for further information.
