International Students

International Education Week

The purpose of International Education Week is to raise, among Canadians, an awareness and understanding of international education, its significant benefits to Canada, to Canadian educational institutions and to all Canadians.

International Education Week of 2011 included many great, educational events planned by the MHC International Student Club. View the photos here.

Fashion Show: Students from across the globe participated in the international fashion show, featuring traditional music and clothing from Canada, China, India, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. As in previous years, the fashion show featured a great turnout and lively crowd.

Calligraphy Demonstrations: International students revealed their calligraphy skills in their native languages, giving bystanders examples of what their English names might look like in Chinese, Japanese or Korean calligraphy. Students also passed out popcorn and collected donations for the Red Cross. Those donating to the cause received origami from the students in appreciation for their generosity.  The calligraphy demonstration took place on two days during International Education Week.

Talent Show: Students showcased their many talents, including a Japanese comedy skit “Hige (Mustache) Dance,” a piano piece by Lin (Rebecca) Lin – “Marriage D’amour,” and a Japanese song/dance called “Soran Bushi.”

Pub Night: International students enjoyed MHC’s on-campus pub, Crave, for the evening. International foods and beverages were served to bring a multi-cultural experience for all.
