Are you looking for a quick way to qualify for jobs in just about every business and location you can name? The Administrative Office Professional certificate takes just eight months to complete and includes the full range of courses you need to succeed in many different office environments. As a graduate, you can enter the workforce or use your certificate towards specific diploma and degree programs. This program is a great way to enhance your career!
The Administrative Office Professional program is designed to provide you with a solid foundation for a career as an administrative professional. In addition to providing you with hands-on computer training using the latest software, the program prepares you for success with the problem-solving, communication and critical thinking skills that today’s office worker requires.
Learning in the classroom is just part of the college experience. You will also build on-the-job experience through a work placement in both the fall and spring semesters. On campus, you’ll form strong connections with faculty and students, and those friendships will help you succeed at college and help you with networking.
At graduation, you will have the knowledge and skills required for entry-level office positions. You will be prepared to manage information in an office, organize and maintain files, manage projects and learn bookkeeping and computer skills. Many students enter the program with a clear goal: complete the certificate in less than a year, and enter the workforce to make money. Others are so intrigued by the world of business that they decide to continue their education.
The ability to use your Administrative Office Professional certificate as a starting point for a business diploma or degree is one of the strengths of this program. You can focus on building the skills you need for work right away, but also think of a long-term career at the same time.
After taking the Administrative Office Professional certificate, you can take the Administrative Office Management diploma or a Business Administration diploma majoring in Business/Office Technology. With the completion of either of those diplomas, you also achieve a full two years of credit towards a Bachelor of Professional Arts in Communication Studies through Athabasca University, which can be completed at MHC.

People who continue on to complete the Administrative Office Management Diploma add the potential to obtain managerial, supervisor or leadership roles in an office environment thanks to the advanced business courses they complete.
