Born in England, but raised in various areas of the world, Martyn eventually ended up here in Canada. After high school, Martyn attended Medicine Hat College where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree. While at MHC Martyn was a member of the Rattlers soccer team for five years, including four years as captain.
Throughout the past few years Martyn has been gaining experience in the field of exercise and sport. He has been a member of the Rattlers soccer coaching team, including his current position of assistant coach. In addition, he has obtained various fitness and exercise certifications including AFLCA and most recently canfitpro. With these certifications Martyn has worked in various fitness centres around the city, leading various exercise classes including plyometrics, MMA style training, and boot camps.
In December 2011, Martyn became a staff member of the Alberta Sport and Development Center - SE. Martyn’s role is to assist with both rural development and strength and conditioning. His background will ensure local athletes are fit, healthy and ready to compete.
Martyn loves to play competitive soccer and recreational volleyball. He has a love for the outdoors, developed during his time as a white water rafting guide and also as a ski instructor. Mixing workouts with the great outdoors is commonplace for Martyn.
