The Men’s Soccer Team enters the 2011 ACAC Soccer Season with a focus on qualifying for the ACAC Conference Championships for a second year in a row. With a relatively young squad consisting mainly of 1st and 2nd year players, the Rattlers’ Men are eager to see the start of the highly competitive ACAC Season.
The team’s success will rely heavily on returning players Dean Studer, Travis Hyde, Bryce Henderson, Yuki Matsuda, Derrick Hammel, Chris Tully, Matt Wilson, Miguel Morales, Mark Scheffelmair, Braden Ripley and Chad Carruthers.
Top recruits for the 2011 Year are first year players Allan Siwela, Josh Bidvar, Austin Desharnais, Fumiya Hatano and Riyota Tanaka. Bidvar will play significant defensive role as a Centre Back. Siwela and Desharnais will help to strengthen the Rattlers Central Midfield. While Hatano and Tanaka will look to add a much needed scoring punch to the Rattlers attack.
The Men’s Soccer Team will compete against Lethbridge College, Red Deer College, Lakeland College, in addition to SAIT and Mount Royal College who are perennial powerhouses in the South Division of the ACAC. In 2010 each of these teams were difficult opposition for the Men’s Soccer Team and as each program anticipates numerous returning players the Rattlers Men will have their work cut out to surpass last years results. We look forward to what should prove to be a challenging, exciting and successful 2011 Season.
