All Volleyball Camps are based on a “games approach” to instruction. Our participants will learn in an environment that simultaneously teaches necessary concepts and basic tactics. It is our goal to equip participants with the ability to make appropriate game decisions, and then consistently execute the necessary skills in each situation. Of course, none of this matters if we’re not having fun, so we’ll have plenty of that as well! We will be running the camps on 4 courts (2 inside, 2 outside). Participants should be prepared to be outside every day. We recommend a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a water bottle.
The camp staff will consist exclusively of Rattlers athletes and coaches. Camps are organized and coached by the MHC head coaches, with assistance from MHC players. Campers will get to experience the thrill of learning from and playing with some of the top college volleyball players in Alberta.

Food AllergiesBecause campers eat together, we cannot control all of the foods and odours that they may be exposed to as all campers eat in a designated area. We are a nut-free camp, and we request that campers do not bring any foods that contain nuts, i.e. peanut butter or granola bars. If consuming nut products prior to arriving at camp, please wash hands diligently. If your child has any food allergies, we ask that you note them on your child’s registration form, and we will make every attempt to accommodate their needs.
Your Child’s SafetyAll Sport & Wellness Summer Camp Head Coaches are certified in First Aid and CPR to ensure a top quality experience for your child. During staff training, all emergency procedures for the College and camp are thoroughly reviewed. As well, the department conducts regular risk management audits on all camp equipment and policies. Procedures that include custody arrangements, child abuse, behaviour modification, weather conditions, and the self-esteem of your child are covered in training. We also enforce strict sign-in and sign-out policies. (All parents/guardians must produce a valid piece of picture ID and be on the safe list to sign out their child). Please note that campers 11 years of age and under cannot leave the care of an instructor until a parent/guardian signs that child out. A child 12 years and older may leave on their own. If you would prefer that your child who is 12 years or older remains in the care of the instructors until a parent/guardian arrives, please indicate this on the registration sheet or by calling 403.504.3546 in advance of the camp start date.
What to Wear and Bring to CampAll children should wear comfortable clothes including shorts, t-shirt, and running shoes suitable for physical activity, as well as a sweatshirt for cool days. It is strongly recommended and enforced that children wear hats while outdoors to shade their heads from the sun and wear sunscreen. All campers will be provided with a Sport & Wellness Water Bottle on the first day of camp and should bring it with them every day as it helps to replenish water loss experienced by physical activity in warm weather. A bathing suit and towel are needed for Friday afternoons, as campers will be participating in a recreational swim at Hill Pool. Campers are reminded not to bring items of value that are not required at camp, i.e. MP3/iPod, cell phones, and excessive amounts of money, etc.
SwimmingSwimming is a great physical activity outlet and is incorporated into the Sport & Wellness Summer Camps programming. If your camper is attending a camp on a Friday afternoon, please pack with them a swimsuit, towel, sunblock, snack and a drink. It is not mandatory that your camper swims; however, it is highly encouraged. If there are any medical conditions, which may limit your child’s participation, please note this on the registration form.
Stampede ParadeThe 2012 Medicine Hat Stampede Parade will take place the morning of Thursday, July 26 at 9:00 AM. Campers registered in a Sport & Wellness Camp this week will attend the Stampede Parade Festivities. All campers are to be dropped off as normal at the College where a bus will transport them to the parade route.
Water BottlesAll children attending camp will receive a water bottle for each camp in which they are registered. It is highly recommended that campers bring the water bottle to camp each day to replenish the fluids lost due to physical activity.

Parents will be able to make use of the loading zone in front of the College. Drop-off for morning and full-day programs will begin at 8:45 AM. Pick-up for morning programs will begin at 12:00 NOON.
