Exercise Programs & Testing

The Be Fit for Life Centre is an Accredited Fitness Appraisal Centre that services southeastern Alberta by providing education and resources to assist schools, athletes, workforces and the population at large in leading healthy and active lifestyles.

Exercise Program Design
Each individual is different and therefore each exercise program should be different. We work with each client to create SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and based on Time Variables), therefore ensuring an increased likelihood for success.

The following three modalities are identified by the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology as being critical to the overall physical fitness of an individual.

Flexibility

  • Health-related – allowing for healthy joint range of motion by decreasing muscle and joint stiffness.
  • Performance-related – providing your muscles the greatest range of motion transferring into speed and power of each joint.

Strength

  • Health-related – building strong muscles and bones to ensure daily tasks are performed injury-free.
  • Performance-related – increasing the ability to perform at maximum potential.

Cardio-respiratory Fitness

  • Health-related – maximizing the efficiency of the heart, lungs and respiratory system, therefore providing the ability to tackle the day’s activities with energy and vigor.
  • Performance-related – maximizing the human bodies ability to use oxygen to produce energy for top performance

You’ll find our expertise and guidance can help you reach your goals and make the best use of your exercise time.

Physical Fitness Evaluation
A Physical Fitness Evaluation is a popular method used to assess an individual’s current level of fitness. The results have a dual benefit. By providing an accurate benchmark of current fitness and by comparing the results to norms helps determine how an individual compares to others of the same age and gender.

The evaluations performed are specific to the needs and goals of the individual.

  • Body Composition
  • Flexibility
  • Cardio-respiratory Fitness
  • Muscular Strength and Endurance
