Brooks Campus

Brooks Campus is situated in Brooks Alberta, a community of about 14,000 people in South Eastern Alberta, about 100 km west of Medicine Hat. Settlement of the area coincided with the development of the Canadian Pacific Railway system. During the
latter half of the 19th century, as the demand for water resources increased, the area established what is still known as the Eastern Irrigation District. With the help of the
EID's irrigation system, the turn of the 20th century brought with it growth in farming
and ranching.

Brooks Campus opened in 1979, in what was originally an area hospital. While at its original location, Brooks Campus established a variety of programs under the auspices
of the Medicine Hat College. In 1991 the doors opened at the present site of Brooks Campus, on land that was donated by the late Harry Veiner (a former mayor of
Medicine Hat) in his mother's name.

Brooks Campus now has almost 300 full and part-time students each semester, enrolled in courses ranging from adult basic education and ESL training to the new two-year Practical Nurse Diploma Program and all four levels of the Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program. As well, students can now take a full complement of first year university studies at Brooks Campus.
