Introduction to Teaching |
| This course is an observation and analysis of the teaching-learning process in lecture, laboratory and school settings. NOTE: You must complete 60 hrs of practicum work experience in a school setting. In order to ensure the safety of children in classrooms, local school jurisdictions may require that student teachers submit a current Police Information Check with vulnerable Sector Search and an Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Record Check. It is also recommended that student teachers possess a current Emergency or standard First Aid Certificate and that Health Immunization Records are up to date. |

Education Psychology for Teaching |
| Prerequisite: EDTS 233 |
| This course focuses on the psychological, social, and educational determinants of child development. It includes theory, research, and illustrations all dealing with the classroom application of psychological principles and may involve students in classroom experiences with children. Topics typically covered relate to child development, student learning and instruction, individual and group differences in student abilities, and student motivation. |

Interpersonal Communication in the School |
| Prerequisite: EDTS 233 |
| Communication skills are practiced using intercommunication in dyads, triads, and small groups in the classroom as well as laboratory experiences designed to improve interpersonal communications skills. This course includes 40 hours of classroom experience designed to improve interpersonal communications skills.
