You obtain the knowledge and skills needed to complete a health history and holistic assessment of healthy adults with attention to findings related to normal aging. Practical experiences involve assessment and other nursing skills. Skills are practiced on fellow students. (formerly NURS 255).

This course builds on the Paramedics’ previous knowledge and experience of regarding care of the surgical patient. This practicum course will include labs, seminars, and experience in the clinical area. You will participate in interdisciplinary care and expand their self-awareness as a professional nurse.

NURS 369 Mental Health Nursing Practice
Prerequisite: Admission into the Bachelor Nursing - Transitioning Program (BNTP)
This course builds on the students’ previous experience in the health care system. This practicum course will include labs, seminars, and experience in the clinical area. Students will participate in interdisciplinary care and expand their self-awareness as a professional nurse. The course provides an opportunity for the student to demonstrate the application of relational and communication skills acquired in other courses. Through therapeutic use of self, with the client, students will assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions to assist the client to achieve optimal mental health. The practicum experience will include varied community and institutional sites.
