Medicine Hat College Rattlers announce new Interim Men’s Basketball Coach

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers are pleased to announce the hiring of Ben Julius as the interim Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball team. Ben takes over for Tim Martens, who is off on a one year personal leave of absence. The appointment is a full-time position within the Division of Science teaching Kinesiology courses and coaching within the Department of Sport & Wellness.

Ben, who completed his Masters of Science in Sports Administration in 2008, comes to the Rattlers via the University of Manitoba Bisons Women’s Basketball program where he has been the Assistant Coach for the past year. Prior to the U of M, he worked for the NBA’s Orlando Magic as an operations intern. Ben’s post-secondary basketball experience also includes two years as an assistant coach at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Canisius College participates in the NCAA Division 1. Prior to Canisius College, he served two years as an assistant coach at Wilfrid Laurier University.
 
Ben comes from a family rich with basketball roots and will bring a tremendous amount of knowledge, experience and passion to the Rattlers Men’s Basketball program. The Rattlers are very excited to welcome him to the team. Ben plans to be in Medicine Hat late next week and is eager to get acquainted with the staff and players.
 
A full meet & greet press conference will be scheduled shortly once Ben’s travel plans are finalized.
