Registration and Payment

How to register

Registration has moved from the Conservatory Office at the Cultural Centre to the Medicine Hat College main campus building and will occur at the institution's registration desk. This change will offer Conservatory students extended service hours during peak seasons.

Students who require a placement or private studio lessons should first consult with an instructor at the Conservatory. Instructor contact information is available on our website or by connecting to the Conservatory Office directly: 403.529.3880 or conservatory@mhc.ab.ca.

Private Studio Lessons

Music students interested in private lessons should connect with the instructor of their instrument of choice. Please visit our online directory to locate instructor contact information. Additional questions should be directed to the Conservatory Office at 403.529.3880.

Fees and Payment Plans

Private Studio, Academy and Theory Lessons
A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at time of registration to secure placement. The deposit will be credited to the overall balance, however, it will not be reimbursed on withdrawal from the program. 

Students may elect to pay their tuition and fees in installments using a payment plan. Once the $100 deposit has been made, students should contact the Financial Aid office at 403-504-3594, or in person, to set up a payment plan.

Failure to make the first payment may result in withdrawal from classes.

Ensembles and Group Classes
Full payment is required at time of registration.

Withdrawal Policy and Dates

  • To avoid requests for refunds, please ensure you can fully commit to the program before you register.
  • If you have to withdraw from lessons, refunds are based on the date a signed add/drop form is submitted to MHC Registration Services.
  • Add/Drop forms are available from the instructors or the Conservatory Office and must have the approval of the Manager in order to be processed for refund.

Private Studio/Academy/Theory

  • Withdrawal prior to October 6, 2017 will receive a 100% refund of the remaining lessons, less the $100 non-refundable deposit.
  • Withdrawal prior to January 26, 2018 will receive a 50% refund of the remaining lessons, less the $100 non-refundable deposit.
  • Withdrawal after January 26, 2018 will not receive a refund. Please note: Lessons added after January 26, 2018 are non-refundable. 

Ensembles or Group Classes

  • No refunds will be considered after the commencement of an Ensemble or Group class.
  • MHC reserves the right to cancel, postpone or combine classes and to limit registration or change instructors. Should insufficient registration cause the cancellation of a class, fees will be refunded or the student may transfer to another course if a seat is available.
