New Student Orientation

NSO Schedule of Events (Medicine Hat campus)

DAY 1: SEPTEMBER 5

1. ARRIVAL & BREAKFAST
8AM / crave (campus pub & grill) 

When you arrive on campus, our friendly staff and student ambassadors will help direct you in the right direction. No need to worry about paying for parking that day, just find a spot and come on in! Make your way to crave, the campus pub for a free breakfast between 8 and 8:45 a.m.

2. WELCOME PRESENTATION
9AM / Eresman Theatre / Gymnasium

Join us for a warm welcome from MHC president Denise Henning and other representatives of the college.

3. BREAKOUT SESSIONS
10AM / Various locations

You will have the opportunity to attend various sessions about college technology, library services, budgeting, living healthy, study aboard opportunities and much more. View the orientation schedule to find your breakout session location.

4. FREE LUNCH
12PM / Centennial Hall (main entrance)

Join us for something hot off the grill and spend time visiting with your new classmates. There will also be a live DJ and activities so make sure you're there!


ADDITIONAL SESSIONS FOR SELECT STUDENTS:

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION & LUNCH

12PM / S159

Join the International Education and Diversity team for an introduction to life as an international student at MHC, including classroom expectations, cultural adjustment, supports and services, and immigration requirements. This session is mandatory for all new international students.

RESIDENCE ORIENTATION
2PM / Crowfoot Room (F160)

Living on campus this year? Join the residence team to learn more about your new home, meet your friendly RAs and find out about the great activities planned for the year. You'll also receive valuable advice for building strong relationships with your fellow residents to ensure your experience is positive, plus important information about on campus housing rules and regulations.



DAY 2: SEPTEMBER 6

1. ARRIVAL & BREAKFAST
9AM / Centennial Hall (main entrance) 

When you arrive on campus, our friendly staff and student ambassadors will help direct you in the right direction. Again, no need to worry about paying for parking., just head over to Centennial Hall, the main entrance to our campus, for a free breakfast between 9 and 9:45 a.m.

2. PROGRAM ORIENTATION
10AM / Various locations

Program orientation starts at 10 a.m. This is a chance to meet other students in your program, as well as many of your instructors, and learn what to expect in the year ahead.

3. LUNCH
12PM / Centennial Hall (main entrance)

Use the rowdy bucks you have accumulated, or buy yourself some lunch from a variety of food trucks or cafeteria. Enjoy your food in the sun while listening to music.

4. FROSH FEST
1PM  / Centennial Hall (main entrance)

What’s FROSH FEST you ask? It’s only the biggest kickoff party of the year that you won’t want to miss! Come join us for beer gardens, local food trucks, drinks, live DJ, and some fun games/activities outside the main entrance from 1 - 8 p.m.

ID Cards

Make sure to stop by the Vera Bracken Library to get your campus ID card. Find more info here. While you're at the library, make sure to load up your account with funds for printing. MHC has a pay-for-print system, so you'll need to add funds to your account in the library to access campus printers.

Parking Passes

Parking passes are available in The Bookstore. There are several parking options; check them out here.

Buying Your Books

Our bookstore has all the textbooks you'll for your classes. They've also got lots of other supplies you may need. For more Bookstore info, including hours, click here.
