Mato Higashitani

I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan; thus my art must remain nascent...

Professional practice that I am engaged in extends into such mediums as painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, ceramics, digital contents creation, as well as music composition – therefore, my areas of teaching include several of these.

Before coming to MHC, I taught at the University of Montana, Regis University (Colorado), Antioch University (Ohio), Sheridan College (Wyoming), and Chubi College of Art and Design (Tokyo). My education includes a Master of fine Arts in Printmaking and Painting, as well as Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts and Art History (both with High Honors from the University of Montana); Degree in English/Japanese Translation (with High Honors from Shibuya College of Foreign Languages in Tokyo); Certificate of Instructorship (with High Honor from Takehisa Michi Academy of Design in Tokyo).

My work has been exhibited at such places as Yeovil Arts Centre (England); Wyvern Theatre Swindon (England); Wrexham Arts Centre (Wales); Memorial Gallery, Yele College (Wales); and at numerous galleries and museums in the U.S. and Japan.
