There are a few things you may need to check on your device to ensure it is ready to take the Respondus LockDown Browser exam:
- Clear browser history, cache and cookies – It is recommended that you navigate to your browser settings to clear your browser history, cache and cookies before your scheduled exam.
- Allow Respondus LockDown Browser to Launch – When prompted, click “Open Link” to allow your computer to open the Respondus LockDown browser.
- Allow mic and camera access – Allow the web browser access to the microphone and/or web camera on your device, if prompted. Make sure you run the camera and microphone tests at the beginning of the exam. This is only required for exams using Respondus Monitor.
- Multifactor Authentication (MFA) – If you are entering Blackboard through Respondus LockDown Browser, your MFA may block you from accessing the exam. Close Respondus LockDown Browser. Login to Blackboard in a regular web browser (not using Lockdown Browser) and navigate to your course, then click on “Start Attempt” on the exam. LockDown Browser will automatically launch.
- Antivirus Software – If Respondus Lockdown Browser does not launch, your antivirus software may be blocking it.
- WiFi Connection – It is recommended that you ensure you have a strong WiFi connection to take the exam. If you are using a mobile device on campus, be sure to connect to the “MHC-WiFi” network and login using your regular college username and password. Note that you may need to change your WiFi settings to “forget” the network and not connect automatically so that when you need to connect, you will be prompted to login. Make sure your device is using/prioritizing "MHC_WiFi” by turning off mobile data in areas that have poor cell reception. If you’ve moved from one area to another with your device, toggle the WiFi off then on again to make sure your device is using the strongest nearby signal.
NOTE: If technical issues with LockDown Browser persist, please contact IT Services at (403) 529-3899.
