New Student Orientation

My First Four Weeks

Your Guide to MHC

Welcome! You've been admitted to your program and are registered for your courses… now what? In this section, we will go over everything you will need to know in your first month as a Medicine Hat College student.

The first week of post-secondary can be overwhelming for some students however, if you follow our tips below, you are sure to feel prepared and enjoy the experience!

Get Started

Get your virtual Student ID card:
Student IDs are very important for students for a number of reasons. They serve as your photo ID, proof of your college student status, your library card, and much more. Additionally, many businesses in Medicine Hat such as restaurants and retail stores will offer a student discount so be sure to carry your student ID with you at all times!

  • To obtain your virtual ID card, simply log into your Dashboard to update your ID online. You will be able to upload a photo for your ID, and have a fully virtual card. Students who wish to have a physical card can get their ID printed out, which will be available for pick up from the library.

Get your textbooks & course supplies:
Textbooks, course materials, MHC merchandise and other supplies and gift ware items are available for purchase at the Bookstore. Purchase in-person or order ahead online at and pick up when you arrive!

Get your Parking Pass:
Are you driving to campus for blended classes and labs? Rather than paying daily fees (or worse, getting a ticket), be sure to purchase a parking pass.

Rent a Locker:
If you are carrying a lot of textbooks and course supplies, you may consider renting a locker to store books and other belongings.

  • Visit the Student’s Association in Room F113 or contact for more information on renting a locker.

Access your schedule:
You’ve worked hard to build a schedule that works for you, but are you wondering where to find it?

Download the MHC Safety app on your phone!

The MHC Safety shares important safety alerts and provides instant access to campus safety resources.
