Student Financial AidLocation: Centre Core / Main floor / Medicine Hat Campus
Attending college provides new opportunities, but it can also bring new expenses including tuition, books, and day-to-day living costs. At Student Financial Aid, our goal is to make sure these expenses do not become a barrier to your education. We will work with you to find the right funding option, such as Student Loans, Scholarships, Sponsorship, and Emergency Funding. Our services are available to all MHC students and we are always available to answer any questions you may have about funding your education.
Student loans are one of the most common funding options for students and Student Financial Aid can help you through the process of understanding and applying for student loans.Scholarships and bursaries are another great way to fund your education and are also disbursed in the Financial Aid department. Student Financial Aid can help you with any questions you have related to:
- applying & eligibility
- receiving your scholarship money
- general questions about financial awards
Being a sponsored student means that some or possibly most of your post-secondary expenses will be covered by an external agency. We work with the students and sponsors to set that process up so the fees will be billed directly to your sponsor.
If you ever find yourself having financial problems, we also have Emergency Funding available for students that have run into an unexpected situation causing financial distress that can’t be addressed by any other funding source. Each situation is handled on a case-by case basis so it is always worthwhile to ask to talk to someone about your finances if you aren’t sure what to do.
The most important thing to remember is it is always best to ask questions if you are in doubt and not to make assumptions about eligibility for Financial Aid as you could be missing out! Just visit us at the Financial Aid desk, located in the C-wing, anytime and we are happy to help.
Indigenous Support ServicesLocation: Co-op Wellness Commons / Medicine Hat Campus
Ahnii, Tansi, Oki, Aho, Hello!
At the Indigenous Support Office, we are here to support First Nations, Metis and Inuit learners throughout their experience here at Medicine Hat College. By creating a welcoming space for the college community and cultural & wellness programs created for Indigenous students, we provide a warm connection to any who needs it.
We believe that all students should feel supported through the duration of their studies. We also believe in the importance that Indigenous culture has on our student’s lives and we are here to help students start or continue to nurture their connection to their culture and ceremony. We do this by keeping students informed of any events and ceremonies happening in and around the Medicine Hat area and hosting sharing circles with elders to stay connected.
Whether you are looking for support or just need to chat, we welcome you to connect with us. We look forward to meeting every one of you.
Interfaith Centre / Chaplaincy ServicesLocation: F155 / Medicine Hat Campus
While life as a student can sometimes be difficult, especially when you’re adjusting to a new environment and learning experience, MHC students are never alone. Chaplain George and the Interfaith Centre (Room F155) are helpful resources you can access on short notice in a time of trouble. A Chaplain is a multi-denominational spiritual guide & support for students, who will engage with you confidentially and non-judgmentally, accepting your pre-existing spiritual values and beliefs, as a friendly companion to walk alongside you in times of trouble.
For those who experience a food crisis the Chaplaincy also offers an emergency food program—funded by your friends in local churches—where you can receive a supply of food. Chaplain George will also be pleased to work with you to find long term solutions to these needs.
To connect with Chaplain George in the Interfaith Centre or book an appointment, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text for a quick response in a time of need.
