As the fall semester quickly approaches, Medicine Hat College (MHC) is inviting students near and far to Open House, the largest prospective student event of the year. The events will take place on Friday Mar. 3 between 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brooks campus and Saturday Mar. 4 between 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Medicine Hat campus.

Landon Heilman, student recruitment coordinator at MHC says the event welcomes all high school students and mature learners, helping them decide both the type of program to take in postsecondary and prepare them to take the next step.

“Whether students are interested in a specific program or they’re still trying to figure it out, Open House has proven to be the best opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for what students really want to know,” says Heilman. “We will have current students from all different programs at the event to answer questions so it’s a really unique opportunity for students considering MHC.”

In addition to speaking to current students, Open House attendees can expect to take full campus and residence tours, explore programs, and meet faculty from each program. Those applying to their program of choice for fall 2023, will also have their application fee waived – a $75 value.

Heilman adds that this semester’s Open House was planned with both local students, and those travelling, in mind.

“We’re excited and ready to welcome students who may have never been to our campus or explored our city before,” says Heilman. “This could be their home for the next one to four years, depending on their program, so we hope students will take the time to really experience all the wonderful things Medicine Hat has to offer.”

To assist those travelling from a distance to attend the Medicine Hat event, MHC has partnered with Holiday Inn Express to offer a special room rate. Additionally, those who register for the event will be automatically entered to win a Medicine Hat prize pack, which includes a $100 Moxie’s gift card and more from other local businesses.

Registrants for the events will also be entered into a draw to win $100 worth of MHC swag and the first to arrive to campus in both Brooks and Medicine Hat will automatically receive a free MHC swag bag.
