Co-op Work Permits

Learn the requirements for MHC programs

As an international student, if you are enrolled in a program with a practicum/clinical/co-op/work placement requirement, you need a co-op work permit before you can start your placement. Please see the chart below to confirm whether your program at MHC requires a co-op work permit.

If your program requires a co-op work permit, you must start your application for a co-op work permit as soon as you confirm your seat in the program and receive your IRCC acceptance letter. The co-op support letter will be emailed to you along with your IRCC acceptance letter. You should apply for your co-op work permit at the same time as applying for your initial study permit.

If your placement is in a designated occupation such as in health services or working with children, you must also complete and pass a medical exam before you submit your application for a co-op work permit. The table below indicates whether a medical is required for your program.

It is critical that you apply for your co-op work permit as soon as possible to avoid delays in your program of study. Please contact Connie Grove with any questions.
