Welcome to the EDC!
Our goal is to empower a new generation of entrepreneurial thinkers and doers in southeastern Alberta. We prepare learners to build careers and businesses through practical experiential learning.
Learners can expect hands-on foundational entrepreneurship skill development, mentorship and theory that can be quickly applied to career and business ambitions.

Start Up Essentials is an 8-week program designed to help you turn an idea into a viable business venture. Learn how to validate a concept through business modelling, refine a business strategy, and attain the capital necessary to create value and grow a business.
This program is suited for individuals who are considering starting a business, aspiring entrepreneurs or student entrepreneurs with an early stage idea.
Lia Schipper, 2021 Start Up Essentials participant and owner of Buffaloberry Bioresonance, received $5,000 in start-up funding in the Venture Investment Showcase at the end of the program.
Scale Up Essentials is a 6-week program is designed to help you take an established business venture and grow it in scope and scale. Learn how to identify and validate new product lines, develop a growth funding strategy and devote time to renewing your business model.
The program is suited for solo-preneurs, small business owners and student entrepreneurs that are considering growing or pivoting their business.
Alex Graham, 2021 Scale Up Essentials participant and owner of Brand 47 Coffee Co., received $6,200 in funding to grow her business in the Venture Investment Showcase at the end of the program.
Venture Start Up: High School Edition is an 8-week experiential learning program where students learn entrepreneurial knowledge and apply it to developing a business idea into a working concept. The program includes theory, instruction, mentorship and hands-on work.

Foremost high school student Brynne Ellert presented her business concept for Foothills Meats and Treats at the High School Pitch Competition in January 2020. Her venture was inspired by her family’s pet pug, Carol, and produces dog treats made from grass-fed, Alberta beef sourced from the Ellert family acreage in the foothills near Pincher Creek. Ellert was one of two individuals to win the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award and $500 in tuition credits to MHC, as well as the Student’s Choice Award and $200 cash voted on by her peers.
