Medicine Hat College invites applications for a full time, temporary Open Access Librarian (Library Assistant IV). This is a full-time, temporary, leave replacement starting mid-August with an anticipated end date of September 30, 2025.
A little about the role:
The primary areas of responsibility for this position are to lead and participate in open access initiatives, liaise with assigned departments which includes teaching information literacy skills, provide library information services, and serve as the copyright consultant for the college.
Details:
- Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science.
- A minimum of 1 year related experience.
- Equivalent combinations of post-secondary education and work experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of Open Access principles and initiatives.
- Experience teaching library information literacy skills.
- Knowledge of Canadian copyright law, jurisprudence, and procedures.
- Knowledge of trends in library and information science fields.
Term of Appointment: August 2025 to September 30, 2025 with the possibility of an extension
Hours: 35 hours per week
Wage Rate: $28.28 per hour (Start Rate); $31.60 per hour (Job Rate)
