Medicine Hat College’s School of Trades and Technology invites applications for a casual Trades Assistant II to assist the Carpentry Instructors.
A little about the role:
The primary responsibilities for this position are ordering, receiving and preparing materials and consumables for shop projects as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the labs and preparation area. Because the work takes place in a workshop, attention to safety is paramount.
Details:
- Grade XII or equivalent.
- Two years apprenticeship training in a related field OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Journeyperson Certification preferred.
- An additional two years of related work experience.
- Experience operating and maintaining power tools and equipment including, but not limited to, bandsaw, lathe, pipe and overhead crane is an asset.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of shop procedures and safety.
Term of Appointment: September 3, 2025 to June 26, 2026
Hours: 500 hours for the above term; 250 hours each for the fall and winter/spring semesters
Wage Rate: $24.85 per hour (Start Rate); $28.10 per hour (Job Rate)
