Medicine Hat College – Brooks Campus is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Program Coordinator to manage the Pathways Adult Learning Foundations program. This is a full-time, 35 hours per week contract, which will run from September 2, 2025 to June 30, 2026. There is also a strong potential for contract renewal beyond the initial term.
A little about the role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for program coordination, volunteer recruitment and engagement, community engagement, collaborations and partnerships and learner support to ensure the success of adult foundational learning initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in adult foundational learning, literacy programming, volunteer engagement and recruitment, and community development. A strong understanding of adult learners, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing program needs are essential.
Wage: $27.00 per hour (inclusive of vacation pay and stat pay)
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a variety of multiple and strong relationships with a diverse number of community organizations and stakeholders to develop and collaborate shared programming for adult foundational learners in Brooks, AB.
- Conduct adult learner intakes, registrations, and referrals into existing and new programs.
- Recruit, retain, train and manage a large volunteer tutor pool to support adult foundational learners in the community of Brooks, AB.
- Collaborate with partners and maintain contact with community supports to create a network for adult learners.
- Work effectively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
- Receive coaching and mentorship through professional development provider.
- Utilize digital tools effectively, including MS Office, online meeting platforms, social media, and website updates.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and adaptability skills.
Details:
- A certificate, diploma, or university degree in education, social work, adult learning, human services, or a related field is required.
- 3-4 years’ experience recruiting, retaining and managing volunteers is an asset.
- A valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle to travel throughout the community.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and work collaboratively with diverse populations and community stakeholders.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations, including newcomers and Indigenous communities is an asset.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed or strengths-based approaches in education or human services is considered an asset.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to support learners in a variety of formats (one-on-one, small group, in-person, or virtual).
- Proven organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities independently.
- Competency in digital tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, virtual meeting tools (e.g., Zoom or Teams), and basic website updating.
- A willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and receive coaching and mentorship as part of the role.
