Medicine Hat College’s Centre for Innovation is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Student Research Coordinator to support the growth of applied research, student engagement, and regional innovation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys working with students and faculty, and is passionate about strengthening research capacity within our community.
A little about the role:
The Student Research Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting Medicine Hat College’s applied research activities by coordinating the recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing support of student research assistants. The position also supports the operations of the APEX regional innovation network by collecting and managing metrics, preparing monthly success stories, coordinating meetings and communications, and assisting with event planning and promotional activities. Through this work, the Coordinator helps ensure students receive high quality training while supporting faculty and industry partners in advancing applied research initiatives.
The successful candidate will bring strong project coordination and organizational skills, along with the ability to interpret data for reporting and decision making. They will have knowledge of applied research processes, experience developing training materials and digital content, and proficiency with communication and data management tools. This role requires excellent written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal and relationship building abilities, the capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and a high level of discretion, judgment, and confidentiality.

• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Training in research administration, adult learning, or workplace training is an asset
Experience
• 2–3 years of project coordination or project management experience
• Experience in post-secondary, research, innovation, or industry partnership environments preferred
• Experience supporting students, training programs, or work integrated learning is an asset
• Experience coordinating events or multi stakeholder initiatives is beneficial
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Hours of work: Up to 35 hours per week.
Wage Rate: $75,000 gross annually, inclusive of benefits and MERC’s.
