Medicine Hat College’s School of Arts, Science & Education invites applications for an Instructor in our Bachelor of Education program, subject to budgetary approval. This is a full-time, in person position and, upon successful completion of a two-year probationary period, the position will be a continuous appointment.
A little about the role:
Being an instructor in the MHC Bachelor of Education program requires significant K-12 teaching experience and pedagogical excellence, a passion for the development of preservice teachers, strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a team. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to teach Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction courses as well as one of either the Social Studies Curriculum and Instruction or Educational Assessment and Evaluation courses. Other courses the successful candidate could teach may include Educational Psychology, Professional Dimensions, Special Topics in Education (Pedagogy), and/or other courses as needed for the program. Practicum supervision will also be a component of this full-time position. Courses in the Education Program can be found starting on Page 164 of the MHC Academic Calendar. - Master’s degree in Education required; PhD would be an asset.
- At least 10 years teaching experience in K-12 classrooms.
- Leadership experience will also be considered.
- Willingness to be an active part of a dynamic and collaborative team that focuses on student success and has a positive, appreciative and enthusiastic personality.
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy.
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered
