Medicine Hat College’s School of Trades & Technology invite applications for a Full-Time Regular Trades Assistant in the Automotive service Technician and Heavy Equipment technician programs.
A little about the role:
As a Trades Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the Automotive Service Technician and Heavy Equipment Technician programs by maintaining the tool room, shop equipment, and instructional learning environments. You will provide tools, equipment, manuals, and technical support to students and instructors, while ensuring inventory, repairs, and safety standards are effectively managed. The role includes maintaining and troubleshooting tools and shop equipment, assisting with purchasing and administrative processes, supporting shop operations and housekeeping, and helping promote safe work practices. You will also design, build, maintain, and repair instructional trainers and teaching aids that enhance hands-on learning experiences. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual who enjoys problem-solving, working with tools and equipment, and contributing to student success in a collaborative trades training environment.
Details:
- Journeyperson Certification preferred
- Class 5 driving license required
- Grade XII or equivalent
- 2 years apprenticeship training in a related field or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Safe operation of equipment and machines
Hours: 35 hours per week
Wage Rate: $27.16 per hour (Start Rate); $30.70 per hour (Job Rate)
