Medicine Hat College (MHC) is seeking a dedicated Student Research Assistant to support Raising Hope on Campus, a trauma informed research initiative focused on raising awareness of domestic violence. We invite current students enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution who are motivated, analytical, and interested in research to apply. This position is ideal for students who are passionate about trauma informed practice, domestic violence prevention, campus safety, and social research.
A little about the role:
As the Student Research Assistant, you will support the research by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data on Trauma-Informed Domestic Violence awareness and help seeking among post secondary students. Your work will directly contribute to improving safety, education, and support pathways for students. Duties will include:
- Conduct literature reviews on the research topic.
- Support data collection by assisting with surveys.
- Analyze the data to identify themes.
- Develop recommendations that strengthen awareness.
- Prepare briefing notes and contribute to a final report summarizing findings and recommendations.

- A strong interest in domestic violence awareness, trauma informed practice, and student well-being.
- Keen attention to detail in data collection, documentation, and coordination.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Background in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Community Studies, or related fields.
Term of Appointment: September 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027
Hours: Up to 10 hours per week; 312 hours for the term
Wage Rate: $22.00 per hour
