Medicine Hat College invites applications for a Regular, Full-Time Lab Assistant – Power Engineering (Lab Assistant I) in the School of Trades and Technology.
A little about the role:
The Lab Assistant is the operator of power plant equipment. Responsibilities include performing maintenance on the equipment, preparing lab apparatus, operating and maintaining high pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment as required to support labs, and maintaining an inventory of chemicals, while keeping a safe working environment. This position is accountable to the regulations governing such equipment.
Details:
- Alberta Fourth Class Power Engineer’s certificate of competency. Third class preferred.
- One years’ experience operating high pressure boiler plants or industrial process plants as a power engineer preferred.
- Able to safely operate and troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Ability to perform preventative and basic maintenance to boilers and auxiliary equipment such as cleaning, basic pipefitting and plumbing, and general checks.
- General use and knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of electrical apparatus and electrical power distribution.
- Able to operate a DCS (distributed control system) common to power plant or industrial equipment.
Hours Per Week: 35 hours per week
Wage: $27.16 per hour (Start Rate); $30.70 per hour (Job Rate)
