The School of Business and Continuing Studies at Medicine Hat College invites applications for part-time, contract instructor position for the 2025–2026 academic year. Continuing Studies is pleased to offer Agricultural Economics & Finance and is currently seeking a contract instructor to deliver this course in person.
A little about the role:
As an instructor, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and informative sessions to students enrolled in the Agricultural Economics and Finance course. This course introduces key concepts in agricultural markets, financial management, and economic decision-making, with a strong emphasis on applying these principles to real-world farming and agri-business operations. The course supports learners who are looking to enhance their knowledge of business practices in the agricultural sector. You’ll be working with the Extended Learning team to create flexible, impactful learning opportunities that empower individuals, support community development, and connect learners to a wide range of career and educational pathways within the agri-business industry.

Details:
- A degree in Business or Agriculture, or combined experience.
- Demonstrated experience in agri-business, with a strong understanding of industry practices, challenges, and opportunities, and the ability to make economic and financial concepts relevant and applicable to real-world agricultural settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently, troubleshoot challenges, and develop positive, respectful relationships with students.
- Excellent presentation, communication, organizational, and time management skills. Familiarity with learning platforms such as Blackboard, or a willingness to learn, is also important.
- Prior teaching experience is an asset.
- A student-focused mindset and a desire to contribute to an engaging, supportive learning environment
- Format: In-person, Medicine Hat Campus
- Schedule: Winter 2026 term; evenings (September–December)
- Total Instructional Hours: 28 hours
Courses & Compensation:
- Agricultural Economics & Finance Instructional Hours: 28 hrs. at $100 per hr.
- Agricultural Trends & Technology Instructional Hours: 7 hrs. at $100 per hr.
This is a part-time, contract teaching role. Instructors are hired per course, with contracts based on course-specific delivery needs. The course will be delivered in-person at the Medicine Hat Campus in the evenings from January 2026 to May 2026.
