Pending Budget Approval The Yuill School of Health and Community Services at Medicine Hat College is seeking applications for the position of full-time, regular instructor for the Pharmacy Technician program. This is a full-time, Regular on-campus role set to begin on July 1, 2026. Upon successful completion of a two-year probationary period, the position will transition to a permanent appointment.
A little about the role:
The Pharmacy Technician program is a two-year diploma designed to prepare graduates for entry to practice in a variety of healthcare settings. Small class sizes support a learner-centered environment that promotes strong student engagement and hands-on skill development in both classroom and laboratory settings. The program maintains high academic standards and aligns with current pharmacy practice and Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) expectations. We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-focused Full-Time Instructor to join our Pharmacy Technician program. In this role, you will deliver theory, laboratory, and practical instruction across in-person, online, and simulated learning environments using an established curriculum. Responsibilities include implementing, maintaining, and aligning course content with CCAPP standards and evolving pharmacy practice; mentoring and supporting students; and collaborating with colleagues to ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery. Experience in both hospital and community pharmacy practice is a strong asset, and maintaining currency of practice is essential to ensure instruction reflects current regulatory and professional expectations.
Details:
- Active and current licensure with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
- A demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, ensuring continued competence and currency of practice in accordance with Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) standards.
- Experience teaching in a post‑secondary educational environment, or a demonstrated ability to facilitate learning in adult education settings.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with a strong ability to engage diverse learners and work effectively within a team‑based instructional environment.
- An equivalent combination of post‑secondary education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Practice experience in both community and hospital pharmacy settings.
- Experience with medication compounding, particularly non‑sterile compounding.
- Experience with Kroll pharmacy software
- A minimum of three years of pharmacy technician practice experience is considered an asset
