Medicine Hat College’s Human Resources department is currently seeking applications for a part-time, term specific Human Resources Consultant starting as soon as possible to June 30, 2026.
A little about the role:
The primary focus for this position is to provide consultative services to ensure progressive HR practices and the development of a sustainable workforce as part of the college’s changing needs and strategic direction. The incumbent will work collaboratively to maintain best practices and provide coaching and guidance within key areas such as labour and employee relations, HR policy & regulations, performance achievement, recruitment and onboarding, retention, training, and leave management. Variation in work will depend on demand. The successful candidate must build strong relationships and networks across the institution and maintain knowledge of current best practices and trends in human resources, including relevant legislation.
Appointment: 0.67 Full-time Equivalency (approximately 23.5 hours per week)
Term: ASAP – June 30, 2026
Salary: $4,676 per month
Details:
- An undergraduate university degree in Human Resources or a related field OR an equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and relevant work experience may be considered.
- Five years of directly related experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to build trust, ensure people feel heard, act with integrity, and deal with and respond to confidential and/or sensitive information in a professional manner.
- Strategic thinker with proven negotiation and influencing skills.
- A self-starter, with demonstrated initiative and flexibility.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work well with team members in an environment with pressing deadlines.
- Proficient computer and database skills. Knowledge of and experience with Unit 4 Business World is an asset.
- A professional designation is an asset such as a Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR).
