Medicine Hat College is seekinga highly motivated and energetic LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) instructor for the Medicine Hat Campus LINC evening class.
The term of this appointment has a start date ofApril 1, 2026,to June 30, 2026.
A little about the role:
Reporting to the Program Manager, Pathways to Success, the primary areas of responsibilityfor this position are to prepare and teach English as a Second Language courses to adult newcomers including but not limited to curriculum and associated resource writing, design and delivery, as well as delivery of specific workshops that complement the course of study. The LINC program focuses on English language acquisition in the 4 key areas: Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing according to the Canadian Language Benchmarks, and includes Essential Skills Training as well.
Details:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR a combination of related education and work experience.
- One year of full-time experience in the last two years as an English language instructor, preferably to adults, with Standard 1 recognition from TESL Canada or Canadian equivalent OR Bachelors of TESOL from a 400+ hour course recognized by TESL Canada with a Standard 2 from TESL Canada or Canadian equivalent is an asset.
- Required to successfully complete, within 6 months of being hired, the Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) Training Program provided by LINC and any PBLA training updates during the course of employment.
- Related experience in a post-secondary environment is preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Hours of Work: 16 hours per week per section
Wage Rate: $37.09 per hour (Inclusive of vacation pay and stat pay)
