Medicine Hat College invites applications for a full-time, term certain Project Consultant for the Center of Community Wellness (CCW) project.
A little about the role:
The CCW project will integrate advanced classrooms, laboratories, and interactive spaces that meet evolving educational standards and program changes anticipated to include 3,000+ m2 of new building space. Inspired by successful models at leading post-secondary institutions across Alberta and Canada, our approach ensures students receive a comprehensive educational experience aligned with industry demands. This is a contract position commencing July 2026 until June 2027 with the option to extend until December 2027 and potentially further pending project advancement.
This position is responsible for leading, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the planning and design phase for the project. This role ensures the project progresses on time, on budget, and in alignment with institutional priorities, government expectations, and community needs. The Project Consultant will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external consultants, project architects, general contractors, government partners, and community organizations to advance the project to a construction‑ready state.
This is a high‑impact role requiring strategic thinking, exceptional communication, and strong project leadership.
Details:
- Degree in Engineering or Architecture or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Project Management Professional designation is considered an asset.
- Proven working experience in construction management and contract administration.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of stakeholders to achieve positive results.
- Good multi-discipline knowledge of the principles of planning, design and construction of complex building types.
- Good knowledge of estimating and cost control in construction.
- Sound knowledge of design and construction of structural, electrical and mechanical building systems.
- Sound knowledge of building codes and other applicable regulations.
- Sound knowledge of consultant and construction contracts.
- Sound knowledge of project reporting systems.
- Ability to write and interpret specifications.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings.
- Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and project management software.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Term of Appointment: July 2026 – June 2027 (possibility of extension to December 2027)
Salary: $100,000 - $115,000 gross annually
