Medicine Hat College’s School of Business and Continuing Studies is seeking a detail-oriented individual with experience in bookkeeping and a solid working knowledge of Sage 50 and QuickBooks to help refresh and redevelop course materials for our Computerized Bookkeeping Certificate. This work will ensure our learners are equipped with current, job-ready skills aligned with today’s software standards and industry expectations.
The Computerized Bookkeeping certificate supports individuals preparing for entry-level administrative and bookkeeping roles. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience in bookkeeping or accounting, a strong grasp of both Sage 50 and QuickBooks, and the ability to revise curriculum to reflect updated software, textbooks, and industry standards. The goal is to ensure the content remains relevant, easy to follow, and aligned with industry expectations for entry-level bookkeeping roles.
You’ll be working with the Extended Learning team to create flexible, impactful learning opportunities that empower individuals, support community growth, and connect learners to a wide range of career and educational pathways.
A little about the role:
This contract involves reviewing current course materials, gathering feedback from past instructors and learners, and identifying ways to improve clarity, structure, and relevance. You’ll revise and reorganize content as needed to ensure alignment with:
- Industry expectations of the software skills needed for entry-level bookkeeping roles
- Evaluate and revise learner assessments to ensure clarity, relevance, and alignment with updated materials.
- Support updates to quizzes, tests, and assignments so they reflect real-world bookkeeping practices and current software versions.
- Review and revise materials to match updated textbook content
Details:
- A post-secondary credential in business, management, or a related field, along with significant bookkeeping experience.
- A strong understanding of bookkeeping software, specifically QuickBooks and Sage 50, and experience applying them in a real-world context.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to organize content clearly and ensure it meets industry expectations for entry-level bookkeeping roles.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, comfort working with technology, and familiarity with learning platforms such as Blackboard (or a willingness to learn).

- Schedule: May – July 2025
- Total Hours of content: 54 hours
- Compensation: $3000 (for full contract)
