The Centre for Innovation (C4I) at Medicine Hat College (MHC) is excited to offer one Summer Research Assistant position in Artificial Intelligence (AI). We invite motivated, tech-savvy individuals to contribute to applied research projects that integrate AI solutions into real-world challenges across agriculture, internal reporting, and economic analysis.
As the Summer Research Assistant in AI, you will play a key role in implementing AI tools to enhance data analysis and automation across several Centre for Innovation projects.
A little about the role:
As part of this role, you will be responsible for researching and implementing AI-based tools to automate internal reports using historical data from previous research projects. You will develop systems to streamline the creation of the annual agricultural economic report by integrating publicly available online data. The role also involves automating the analysis of field data collected through soil sensors and drone-based multispectral imaging. Collaboration with the research team is essential to identify opportunities where AI can enhance data workflows and reporting efficiency. Additionally, thorough documentation of processes and methodologies will be a key part of your responsibilities.
Your specific responsibilities may vary depending on the assigned project. Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to, technology validation, health and wellness research, patient care practices, and community engagement.

Terms of Employment: 10 weeks starting July 01
Hours of Work: 20 hours per week

This position is funded by the Alberta Innovates Summer Research Studentships (SRS) program. This program provides students with paid experiential opportunities during the summer months with the goals of: - Increases awareness and interest in research and innovation careers – particularly at the intersection of health and emerging technologies. - Create opportunities for emerging talent to acquire experience and connections in Alberta’s health R&I ecosystem. - Increase the competitiveness of Alberta as a destination for R&I talent. - Leverage partner relationships to advance Digital Health innovation in Alberta.
