Thursday, May 23
Let’s party like it’s 1984! Throw on your muscle shirt, parachute pants and leg warmers! Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the ASSC Conference with a look back to the vibrant decade it all began. This party is sure to be a Footloose Thriller; just don’t forget to Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go!
- Supper: 6 p.m.
- Entertainment: 8 – 11:30 p.m. (featuring interactive entertainment by Banger Bingo including singing, dancing and an 80’s good time!)
Institutional Brand Exchange
Back this year is the Institution Brand Exchange. Bring an item sporting your institution’s brand to trade with another delegate during the Theme Banquet on Thursday night. Items should be a minimum of $20.00 value to ensure all participants receive something of equal or greater value.
Items that have been exchanged in the past: T-shirts, Hoodies, Hats, Jackets, Water Bottles, etc.

Wednesday, May 22:
- Sunshine Trolley Shuttle Tour | Hop on board Medicine Hat’s Sunshine Trolley & explore Canada’s Sunniest City in this 1-hour guided tour | First 26 people.
- Try-a-Trade | Get your hands dirty & experience what it’s like to work in different trades through engaging, interactive activities led by industry professionals. Wednesday’s session will include Automotive Service Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, Electrical & Welding | First 20 people.
- Pickleball Lessons | Come & learn how to play the exciting game of Pickleball, with lessons from our amazing instructor | First 16 people.
Thursday, May 23:
- Zumba | Come & burn some calories in this fun dance fitness party. It doesn’t even feel like exercise! | Unlimited participants.
- Try-a-Trade | Get your hands dirty & experience what it’s like to work in different trades through engaging, interactive activities led by industry professionals. Thursday’s session will include Steamfitter / Pipefitter, Plumbing & Carpentry | First 20 people.
- Indigenous Craft – Make a Medicine Pouch | The medicine pouch is a sacred item that contains four sacred medicines; tobacco, sweet grass, sage, and cedar that provides spiritual protection to the person who wears it. Participants will learn how to sew a pouch by hand. A knowledge keeper will guide participants through the Sacred Medicine teachings and medicine offerings given for the pouch. Sharing and making the medicine bag will help bridge cultural gaps and fosters appreciation for Indigenous traditions. | First 30 people.
