BIOGRAPHY
Kendra has spent more than 25 years trying to answer one question: How do we create learning experiences that make students want to keep learning? She believes the best way to learn how to teach is to experience meaningful learning firsthand. Her teaching is collaborative, practical, and grounded in research, all while finding ways to make genuine connections to the realities of today's classrooms.
Kendra holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Providence, a Master of Arts in Teacher Education, Curriculum and Leadership, as well as a Graduate Specialist Diploma in Elementary Mathematics from the University of Nebraska. She has served as a classroom lead teacher, instructional coach, mathematics consultant, and school administrator. Her extensive K–6 experience includes curriculum implementation, mathematics education, instructional design, assessment, division wide professional learning, and school leadership. Her commitment to advancing mathematics pedagogy has led to providing instructional leadership at the school, divisional, and provincial levels, including her contributions to the Mathematics Council of the Alberta Teachers Association (MCATA) and the development of the Medicine Hat Public School Division Numeracy Framework.
Kendra values the opportunity to work alongside other educators and is passionate about helping students develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to make a meaningful difference in their future classrooms. Kendra believes Medicine Hat College provides an environment where relationships, collaboration, curiosity, and meaningful learning can thrive, while building pedagogical excellence. She is excited to learn with and from her students, challenge their thinking, celebrate their growth, and continue growing as an educator herself.
In her free time, Kendra can usually be found planning her next adventure. She loves travelling, camping, kayaking, and has a particular weakness for a good thrift store find! She is also a proud cheer mom who loves nothing more than watching her daughter compete across Canada and the USA.
