BIOGRAPHY

Stephanie began her educational journey at Medicine Hat College, where she completed University Transfer studies before earning a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge. She later completed a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education through the American College of Education

Having started her post-secondary education at Medicine Hat College, Stephanie is proud to have returned as an instructor. She brings close to twenty years of experience working with young children to her role in the Early Childhood Education program. Before joining Medicine Hat College, she spent much of her career teaching Kindergarten and most recently worked as a classroom support teacher, supporting inclusive practices in an elementary school setting.

Stephanie has always loved the world of early childhood education. She values the time and flexibility children are given to explore their interests, wonder about the world around them, and develop their unique strengths. She is continually inspired by the competence, creativity, and curiosity of young children and is passionate about preparing future early childhood educators for this important and rewarding profession.

Believing that we learn best when we are having fun, Stephanie strives to bring joy and enthusiasm to both teaching and learning while helping students connect new ideas to what they already know and understand. One of Stephanie's favourite parts of her role at Medicine Hat College is getting to know her students. She enjoys hearing their stories and learning from the unique perspectives they bring to the classroom. She values the diversity of her students and works to create a learning environment where questions are welcomed, everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas, and students learn from one another.

When not at the college, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family, exploring Medicine Hat's trail system with her husband and dog, and cheering on her children at sporting events and musical theatre performances.
