Sam is the remote Program Coordinator and an instructor in the Service Dog & Canine Studies Management diploma program. She has over ten years of experience in the dog training field, including work with ADI‑accredited organizations, and loves helping future trainers build the skills and confidence they need to support both ends of the leash.
Working from Victoria, BC, Sam aims to make her online classes welcoming, interactive, and collaborative. She encourages curiosity, questions, and teamwork, and focuses on creating a learning environment where students feel supported as they grow into capable, ethical professionals.
Her classes feature guest speakers who share first-hand industry insights and diverse perspectives. Sam regularly updates course materials to keep them accessible, engaging, and relevant, incorporating student input to support their learning needs.
Beyond her program role, Sam teaches private training and group classes through BC SPCA AnimalKind–accredited businesses in Victoria. She stays active in her field community collaboration through volunteering, ongoing professional development, and volunteering, currently a member of the ADI blog committee. Sam enjoys supporting handlers as they build positives relationships with their dogs. From teaching a Fun Scent Games class to participating in Discriminant Scent Trailing training with her own dog, she works to enhance communication and understanding in meaningful, engaging ways.
Sam is passionate about helping students explore the many career paths in the canine care industry and pursue Work‑Integrated Learning opportunities that align with their goals. She values connecting classroom learning with tangible experiences that help students build confidence and purpose as they begin their careers.
