Sharon is an instructor in the Early Childhood Education program, returning to teach at the same college where she began her own academic journey. Although new to teaching at the post-secondary level, she brings a broad and well-rounded background in the early childhood education field.
Her professional experience includes providing early childhood education within daycare centers, operating a licensed day home, facilitating home visitation programs, and supporting newcomers to Canada. She has worked closely with families of children with disabilities, facilitated family literacy and parent education programs, led parent–child groups, and contributed to the development of meaningful community partnerships. Sharon has been a part of many early childhood initiatives such as the Early Childhood Coalition and Roving Gyms.
Sharon's teaching philosophy aligns with Flight: Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework, emphasizing hands-on, experiential learning and the role of educators as co-learners. She carries this philosophy into the classroom by creating collaborative learning environments where students actively engage, reflect, and learn alongside one another. Her core values center on building strong relationships with children, families, community partners, and learners.
Outside of her professional role, Sharon enjoys crafting, spending time with family and friends, and camping during the warmer months.
