Chantiel Jenkins, Counselling Intern
My name is Chantiel, and I am completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology practicum at Medicine Hat College. I bring 15 years of experience in education, which has shaped my understanding of the importance of connection, individual differences, and the many factors that influence a person’s well-being.
My developing approach to counselling is person-centered, strengths-based, and collaborative. I believe each person brings valuable knowledge about their own experiences, strengths, and needs. I am particularly interested in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship and family difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, and concerns related to self-esteem.
I value understanding people within the context of their relationships, environments, cultures, identities, and life experiences. I approach counselling with cultural humility and respect for diverse values, perspectives, and ways of knowing, while providing a welcoming and non-judgmental space for reflection, growth, and meaningful change.
