English Language Transitional Proficiency

This course is designed for eligible newcomers to Canada who desire to move from foundational to proficient English communication skills, and wish to integrate more successfully into the community and workplace. The course is targeted toward those who can produce a Language instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) certificate with completed CLB Levels 4, or who have been assessed with CLB Levels 4 or higher in at least three of four communication skills areas. Essential skills will be embedded into the LINC curriculum and will be those skills that people need for work, learning, and life. They include reading, writing, oral communication, numeracy, document use, working with others, problem solving, computer use, and continuous learning. Students are placed into the program based on demonstrated proficiency in English as measured by the standards for Canadian Language Benchmarks. Graded on a CR (Pass)/NC(Fail) basis.
