Introduction to Social Work Practice

SLWK 100 is a foundation course for the Social Work program. You
study the history of Social Work and learn the basic theoretical principles,
concepts and values of Generalist Social Work Practice, and
how to apply these principles in a variety of helping situations. You
will also be asked to reflect on your own values and beliefs and to
evaluate your compatibility with the Social Work profession. Learning
about stress, reactions to stress, and stress management is also a
key component of the course.
