Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)
Medicine Hat College offers the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC Stage 2: CLB 5-8) program, a dynamic, communication-focused English as a Second Language program designed for new Canadians. This program helps adult immigrants enhance their English proficiency to support community integration, employment, and further education.
The program incorporates Portfolio-Based Language Assessment
(PBLA), a learner-centered approach that combines real-life, task-based
learning with continuous assessment. Learners build a
portfolio documenting their progress in reading, writing, listening,
and speaking, aligned with the Canadian Language Benchmarks
(CLB), ensuring practical and measurable outcomes.
Our college is welcoming and provides personal attention to meet your needs. We encourage you to email our LINC Coordinator for the campus you wish to attend to determine funding and CLB level eligibility and get help understanding the education system in Canada.
