Medicine Hat College (MHC) is pleased to offer a Student Research Assistant position within the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program. We invite current Medicine Hat College students in Information Technology, Computer Systems, Software Development, and/or related programs who are motivated, analytical, and interested in public service technology to apply.
A little about the role:
As the Student Research Assistant (Information Technology), you will work closely with BScN Research Team and a Nursing Research Assistant to develop an innovative, in-house electronic health record (EHR) and documentation system for use in the Yuill School of Health and Community Services. This educational EHR will support student learning in nursing labs, simulations, and clinical courses by providing a realistic platform for health documentation and clinical decision-making. You will contribute to the design, development, testing, and refinement of a user-friendly system that can be customized and populated with patient scenarios to meet evolving curriculum needs. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical knowledge in a real-world educational environment while helping advance student learning and simulation experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with BScN Research Team and the Nursing Research Assistant to design and develop an educational electronic health record system.
- Create an intuitive, user-friendly interface that supports student learning and engagement.
- Assist with system design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Gather user feedback and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Work independently while contributing effectively to an interdisciplinary project team.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates on progress to BScN Research Team.[

Term of Employment: September 1, 2026 - December 5, 2026
Hours of Work: Up to 18 hours/week (total of 12 weeks)
Wage Rate: $4400.00 gross for the term
