Medicine Hat College invites applications for a casual Cook I position in our food services department.
A little about the role:
Reporting to the Manager of Hospitality and Conference Services, this position operates in a fast-paced food service environment, responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of full course meals including appetizers, main courses, vegetables and desserts in commercial quantities for public consumption. Other duties include cleaning and maintaining equipment. The Cook fosters a positive team environment, while maintaining the highest possible standards in food quality and safety. This position works with guidance from the Coordinator, Food Services.
Details:
As a successful candidate you will have:
- High School diploma and 1 year directly related experience
- Demonstrated experience with various institutional food services equipment
- Math skills and English literacy
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment required
Certifications required prior to start of employment:
- Certification from an accredited educational institution in Food Sanitation and Safety Standards; Food Safety Regulations; and WHMIS standards
- Alberta Certified Cook Trade qualification preferred, or an apprentice; equivalencies will be considered
Term of Appointment: ASAP to June 30, 2027
Hours: up to 35 hours per week
Wage Rate: $22.87 per hour (Start Rate); $25.75 per hour (Job Rate)
