Medicine Hat College invites applications for consultation experts for the Centre for Innovation (C4i). The SME will work in collaboration with the C4i Research Coordinator and student research assistants to gather regional feedback on procurement and innovation best practices within the defence industry. This project is to be completed by September 2026.
A little about the role:
This role reports to the C4i research coordinator and focuses on listening, learning, and translating insights into actionable recommendations for the Department of National Defence (DND). As the Defence Subject Matter Expert, you will lead a structured stakeholder engagement process to uncover pain points and opportunities within current collaboration and procurement practices.
Your primary responsibility is to design a stakeholder map and conduct interviews with defence, industry, and academic stakeholders, prioritizing defence perspectives, to understand where innovation can be accelerated, and procurement timelines optimized. You will provide recommendations that will be included in a report to DND outlining how a regional hub model could support faster, more effective collaboration.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Experience designing and conducting interviews with senior stakeholders, synthesizing insights, and converting them into actionable recommendations.
• Project Delivery: Ability to plan, manage and deliver outputs on time, including coordination with student researchers and internal teams.
• Communication: Clear, professional communication suited to external partners and leadership audiences.
Compensation: $20,000 for the full term
