Medicine Hat College is pleased to offer an opportunity exclusively for current Medicine Hat College students to apply for a Student Software Technician contract position.
A little about the role:
We are seeking two detail oriented and motivated Medicine Hat College Student Software Techniciansto support the implementation of a custom Curriculum Mapping Software Application. This is a short-term contract ideal for students looking to gain real world experience building an end-to-end application.
The successful candidates will work closely together andwith the Program Excellence team to translate program requirements into a functional, user-friendly tool that supports curriculum mapping, course alignment, and data visualization.
This contract position involves remote or hybrid work. Hours must be logged and progress updates done weekly at agreed upon days and times.
Details:
- Basic proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or similar.
- Familiarity with web application development (front-end or back-end).
- Understanding of databases (e.g., SQL, Firebase, MongoDB) and data structures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a fixed hours contract.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools as required.
- Understanding of education systems, curriculum design, or learning outcomes.
- Experience building small-scale prototypes or academic software tools.
Hours of Work: Up to 20 hrs. per week (maximum 130 hours total)
Wage Rate: $20 per hour
