The Centre for Innovation (C4i) at Medicine Hat College (MHC) is seeking a Student Research Assistant to support applied market research for South Forty Transportation Ltd.’s proposed South Forty Express service. This new concept introduces a secured, prebooked interairport charter system linking regional airports to major hubs through a motorcoach “virtual airline” model. We invite current Medicine Hat College students with strong research skills and an interest in transportation, community development, and innovation to apply.
A little about the role:
In this role, you will support applied research on potential Alberta deployment corridors by collecting and analyzing key data such as population trends, demographics, proximity to hub airports, and regional travel challenges. You will help design and conduct market validation activities to assess passenger willingness to use a coach based first travel leg under airline equivalent conditions. The position also involves contributing to a comprehensive market demand report and preparing clear research briefs for partners such as Transport Canada, airport authorities, and airlines. This is a valuable opportunity for students to build research experience while supporting innovation in regional mobility.

- Strong interest in applied research, transportation, regional development, or service innovation
- Excellent research, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to gather, organize, and interpret qualitative and quantitative information
- Comfort working independently and collaboratively within a project-oriented environment
- A background or interest in areas such as Business, Social Sciences, Communications, Data Analysis, Economics, or Sustainable Innovation
- Experience with survey design, market research, or data analysis software would be considered an asset
Hours of Work: 30 hours per week
Wage Rate: $20.00 per hour
